Quality apartment in fine Westminster location - sleeps 4.  Map

Price per night - £160 - minimum stay 7 nights, minimum age 10

Stay here and you're staying on a spot where history has been made - twice: this fine Victorian apartment block, constructed in the 1840s, was the first purpose built block of flats in London……. and in one of these flats John Major (our prime minister from 1990-1997) conducted his famous affair with another minister in the Tory government, Edwina Curry, before he became prime minister! In fact this street with its handsome façades is home to several of our MPs (members of parliament). Not only is it close to "The House" but the apartments are spacious and airy with high ceilings and fine features.

The Living Room

Carlisle Place is a very quiet street with no through traffic and the apartment is on the 1st floor (no lift but wide, gentle stairs). Nearest tube station is Victoria (District, Circle and Victoria lines), within 5 minutes walk. It comfortably accommodates 4 people in two double bedrooms. There's one bathroom.

The flat is furnished throughout with comfortable modern furniture and decorated in a typical understated English style. The front door opens onto a hallway off which run the rooms. The living room (15ft x 15ft, 4.6m x 4.6m) has a 2 seater sofa and two arm chairs arranged round a fine cast iron fire place (working gas coal-effect fire) and marble surround. In the other part of the room is a round dining table with seating for 4. There's a TV and stereo system (mainly classical CDs).

The Dining Area

The kitchen is a small galley area at the end of the corridor which can be closed off with twin doors. It has all the expected appliances including microwave but no dishwasher. The flat has it's own washer and separate dryer.

Main Bedroom

The main bedroom (14ft6 x 10ft, 4.45m x 3.10m) has a 5ft bed and lots of built in cupboard space. The smaller (guest) bedroom's bed is 4ft6. Again there's no shortage of storage space and this room also has a wash hand basin. The bathroom has a bath and powerful over shower, basin and loo.

As well as being well positioned for visiting the sites, the Palace of Westminster (Big Ben and The Houses of Parliament) and Buckingham Palace are within a 10 minute walk. You are also well placed for the mechanics of every day living - a couple of minutes from Victoria Street with many useful shops and a supermarket. It's also convenient for the cheerful restaurants of Pimlico. If you fancy some green open spaces, St. James's Park is just a 10 minute stroll away.

This is a No Smoking property.
