High quality flat in traditional English style - sleeps 4.  Map

Price per night £190  -   minimum stay 7 nights.

Minimim age 8 years

This is the London home of a former army officer / banker and his wife. Both come from "old" families as the large oil portraits, photographs and historical memorabilia in the hallway attest. They have another home in France so their London "pad" is often available for your use.

The spacious flat is on the 4th floor (there is a lift) of a smart and well maintained mansion block. The porter (concierge) service enhances the excellent block security. As a resident, albeit temporary, you will have access to the private and secluded garden square. You're just minutes walk from the wide open spaces of Holland Park. Your nearest tube station, within 10 minutes walk, is Kensington High Street (District and Circle lines).

The flat sleeps 4 people in one double and one twin/double bedroom. There are 2 bathrooms.

The front door opens onto a hallway furnished with side tables and occasional chairs and hung with family portraits. The drawing room (18ft9 x 16ft, 5.7m x 4.9m) is traditionally furnished with 2 comfortable 2 seater sofas and 4 armchairs. In one corner French windows open onto a small flower balcony. The family's military connection is reflected by a large regimental (Royal Artillery) drum which acts as display table. There's a television on the fireplace fender.

The Dining Room

The dining room has a fine round, polished, mahogany table which seats 6/8. The sideboard was made in the Isle of Sky and started life as the wedding chest of her great grandmother - a McDonald. There's a stereo system is the dining room. The adjoining kitchen has all the expected appliances including a microwave, dishwasher, washer and dryer. Amusingly all the kitchen cupboard are disguised as bookshelves!

The apartment has wifi broadband internet access - bring your own laptop.

The main bedroom (16ft x 14ft, 4.8m x 4.2m) has a 6ft wide / 6ft6 long bed and an alcove area which has French windows that open onto another small flower balcony. There's a chaise longue here - ideal for a mid-day snooze or catching up with your holiday reading!

The second bedroom (13ft x 12ft, 4m x 3.7m) has two 3ft beds that either be configured as a twin or be pushed together to form a double - as in the photograph.

There are two bathrooms, one with a power shower in a large shower cubical (with a fold away seat!) basin and loo, the other with a bath, basin and loo. Both bedrooms have televisions.
